The Plot: Earth has been occupied by a mysterious extraterrestrial force for almost a decade, as this sci-fi thriller explores both those who collaborate with the aliens, and those who chose to fight back within a Chicago neighbourhood.

Why It's Going To Be Awesome: Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) helms this low-budget sci-fi thriller starring John Goodman and Vera Farmiga, and while little is known about it so far, given all the talent involved, it's easy to be optimistic.

With its $25 million budget, it's safe to say this won't be a thrill-a-minute outing, but considering how brilliant Goodman was in the taut, low-budget 10 Cloverfield Lane, it's safe to say he can certainly flourish in this kind of movie.

It remains to be seen exactly how the film will engage with its epic, large-scale premise under such budgetary constraints, but it should be nothing if not an intriguing, presumably character-driven affair.
