We’ve had our fair share of Batman movies when you really think about it. We had Adam West’s 1966 version which birthed the iconic (perhaps for the wrong reasons) shark-repellent Bat Spray; Tim Burton’s foray took the character down darker and more serious avenues; Schumacher showed up to sell us all some credit cards, before finally Nolan infused the property with some much needed realism and grit.
Over the course of Batman’s incredibly lucrative cinematic history, we’ve been introduced to many characters, some major (Batman himself for example) and some minor (Victor Zsazs for example, who featured in Batman Begins for about five minutes). But Batman has existed on the page for over seventy years now and during that time an almost innumerable amount of characters have come and gone.
So many of these characters have yet to be featured, or even acknowledged, in the Batman movie property so far; some understandably but some criminally. This article aims to expose those characters that we’ve yet to see receive a proper cinematic treatment. Because let’s face it; there will be more Batman movies in the future and they need to be populated with characters.
So, I’ve searched my mind and my heart to bring you sixteen of such characters; those that haven’t had the exposure they deserve. Let’s get right to it shall we?

I think Prometheus would be a great villain to start off a new Batman franchise. He is the anti-Batman. Bats would see what he could have become if he didn’t have an obligation for justice. Plus he can be a worthy opponent for the Justice League as he has nearly defeated them by himself in the comics. The White Zone can bring back General Zod too. Maybe have a team up which leads to the League being formed.
Even though Kevin Smith primarily made the character JUST for comics, I’d still love to see Onomatopoeia on screen someday.
How could you leave out Nightwing? He is one of the coolest and most loved characters.
Well, because technically Dick Grayson has featured in several Batman movies already; he can’t be included based on the article’s criteria. I do love Nightwing tho, so you’re not alone.
Harley Quinn, Calender Man, The Mad Hatter, Zsasz (his inclusion Batman Begins barely counts), Maxie Zeus, Clayface
Renee Montoya did come out in The Dark Knight. Maybe not in the role you envisioned, but she was there.
Oh, speaking of the man, Jack Ryder/The Creeper should totally make an appearance
I would LOVE to see Hush and Hugo Strange get their own central antagonist roles, Black Mask too. Bang, right there – a new trilogy laid out for you. Go do it Warner Bros…..but of course, I’m sure we’ll just get the same old villains again and again. Harley Quinn would also be great but she wouldn’t work without having the Joker involved somehow as well.
A believable Mad Hatter would work perfectly for the next Batman film. I think the character has a lot of potential, moving him away from the cartoonish side of things. He could easily become one of the most terrifying villains in Batman film history, but only if the next director understands the character properly.
whoa…when did the joker kill tim drake?
Black Mask would be an interesting choice. He’s visually arresting.
