15 Bafflingly Low Rotten Tomatoes Scores You Won't Believe

14. Billy Madison (46%)

Critical Consensus: "Billy Madison is typical early immature fare from Adam Sandler, even if it finds moments of inspired lunacy." Why It€™s Wrong: Rightly, Billy Madison is one of Adam Sandler's sillier comedies, but it always leaves room for memorable one liners, be it "Stop looking at me, swan!", "If peeing your pants is cool, consider me Miles Davis", and the outrageously cutting "I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul" speech from the school's Principal. Sandler is more endearing than grating as a protagonist, Chris Farley gets a few hilarious scenes, and some of the movie's better gags suggest it's smarter than a lot of the critics clearly think. Why The Critics Hated It: You either find Sandler's weird voices and mannerisms funny or extremely irritating, so it follows that the movie split critics down the middle. Even so, given that this was Sandler's first major starring role, it didn't really seem like critics were prepared to give him a chance.
