10. The Penguin's "Funeral" - Batman Returns

Tim Burton's second (and final) Batman movie ends with Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin succumbing to his injuries after one final attempt to kill Batman. At this point, the penguins who have essentially raised him hold a makeshift funeral, easing his corpse into the sewer water as a final send-off.

It's an unexpectedly moving farewell to the tragic villain, but it's hard to deny that the scene is also pretty uncomfortable to watch in the very distinct manner that only Tim Burton can deliver.

Few other filmmakers could've made such a potentially goofy moment so legitimately haunting, providing a fine capper to Danny DeVito's excellent performance.
