A significant number of big name film-makers got their big breaks working with Pixar and Disney, often working their way up through the animation departments in-house to take on directing gigs and then move on.

One huge name whose first major writing gig came in Toy Story was Joss Whedon. By 1995, he'd worked on Roseanne and Parenthood as a series writer and had penned the kitsch gem Buffy The Vampire Slayer and he was handed the opportunity to co-write the screenplay for Toy Story.

Among his additions, he created Rex, the nervous dinosaur.
