Being a film buff is hard work. For all the "casual movie-goers" out there, it's easy to criticise film buffs as they go about on their never-ending quests to learn everything about this thing we call cinema, but the path to eternal film knowledge is no easy feat - if possible at all. We've already taken a look at some of the things you should never say to a film buff if you're planning on staying friends, or the ways in which being a film buff has the potential to ruin lives... and now you're telling us that there are ways for said buffs to have the legitimacy of their status' taken away? Uh, yep. Thing is, having film buff status comes with certain expectations, from those who have little to no interest in movies, to those uber nerds who would like nothing more than to challenge you to an all-out trivia battle on the origins of the French New Wave. Anyone who knows you to be a film buff will constantly find ways to try to get you to prove your knowledge or tell them about the stuff they can't be bothered to look up.
