20 Actors That Were Almost Cast In The Lord Of The Rings

7. Lucy Lawless - Galadriel

On the back of her ass-kicking exploits over 134 episodes of Xena: Warrior Princess, Peter Jackson wanted Lucy Lawless for the role of Galadriel, and asked her to audition for the part. Unfortunately, the actress was forced to decline the offer after falling pregnant, making her unable to commit to such a lengthy production while also trying to balance her television commitments. Lawless has since expressed her regrets, saying in a 2004 interview that "it would have been great if I was part of this success but truthfully, it did break my heart not being able to be a part of the film." Cate Blanchett took on the character of Galadriel instead. While that got a mixed reception from the fans, it's highly doubtful that Lawless would have given a similarly detached and ethereal performance as the Australian Academy Award-winner.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
