20 Awesome 2015 Movies You Might've Missed

10. Queen Of Earth

The Plot: Friends Catherine (Elizabeth Moss) and Virginia (Katherine Waterston) meet up for a week's vacation at a lake house, only to discover how much they've drifted apart, as Catherine's grip on her sanity appears to lessen. Why It's Awesome: Alex Ross Perry's (Listen Up Philip) latest may not be quite among his best works to date, but it's a terrific drama all the same, a quietly sinister film which makes excellent use of an arguably never-better Elizabeth Moss. The plot is itself pretty minimalist, but Perry hunkers down in a deeply challenging protagonist and refuses to let go for an intense 90 minutes. As a rumination on loss, dependence and the destructive power of mental illness, it's truly tough to shake, and Moss absolutely deserved awards attention for her work.
