The Plot: After the death of his girlfriend, suicidal Rob (Cian Barry) finds solace in co-worker Holly (Abigail Hardingham), but whenever the pair have sex, Rob's dead ex Nina (Fiona O'Shaughnessy) emerges from under the bed to torment them, seemingly until the end of time. Why It's Awesome: Easily one of the most unique and unforgettable horror films of the last 12 months, Nina Forever manages to be intensely creepy, grimly funny and super-sexy all at once. Combining smart character psychology with a genuine glimpse into loss and the nature of relationships, there's an unexpected amount of humanity here, accentuated by three terrific performances, most of all Hardingham, who truly gets put through the ringer here. Though it's not necessarily the tightest film in terms of internal logic, with respect to character and feeling, it's one of the most provocative horror flicks in quite some time.
