14. Wes Craven Shows Up In Scream Dressed As Freddy
Wes Craven was responsible for two of the greatest horror films of all time, Scream and A Nightmare on Elm Street, and a hilarious moment sort of ties them together. When the school's principal, played by Henry Winkler, peaks out into the hallway, he finds that it's empty except for the janitor.
He's only on screen for literally two seconds, so you may not have had time to notice that he's dressed exactly like Freddy Krueger, wearing the iconic sweater with red and green stripes. Freddy is known to disguise himself and not bother hiding the color of his sweater, so could this janitor actually be Freddy crossing over into the Scream world?
There are two layers to this Easter egg, believe it or not, as the janitor is also played by none other than director Wes Craven himself. This became something of a tradition for the rest of the franchise, as Craven would go on to cameo in all four movies as different, unimportant characters like a doctor, a tourist, and a coroner (although his Scream 4 cameo is in a deleted scene).
