20 Most Surprising Rotten Tomatoes Scores Of 2018

19. The Predator (32%)

The Predator
Fox

It was no secret ahead of The Predator's release that the film had suffered through a rough post-production process, with writer-director Shane Black re-shooting significant portions of the third act following disastrous test screenings.

As a result most sensible fans were probably expecting mixed results from the typically reliable Black, likely falling in the 50-60% region on the Tomatometer.

Early reviews from its TIFF premiere actually started out mixed-to-positive, but once general critics got their hands on it, the slaughter began.

That a Shane Black-directed Predator movie can end up one of the summer's worst-reviewed blockbusters is just mind-boggling.

And to be clear, this wasn't a case of the critics giving Black a tough time: the movie is genuinely sloppy, nonsensical and unintentionally hilarious, and arguably worthy of an even lower score.
