Not so long ago, JK Simmons could have done anything and people would have fawned over him. He's still one of the most dependable actors currently working and one of the most interesting - and he's actually even good in Justice League (mostly because he's not in it a great deal). But All Nighter feels like he's testing to see what can get away with.

And unfortunately for him, the studio that made it had so little faith in it that you probably didn't even know it exists. And for once, they did us all a service, as the film is just bland, beige slop that attempts to mess with conventional tropes but gets lost in its own fog as the plot unravels fatally.

Simmons is watchable - as ever - but that's about all that can be said positively for this tepid thriller.
