Mel Gibson turned the story of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ into an insane two hour long torture and gore fest. Critics generally agree that the movie's violence totally obscured the message of the story, and we understand that a crucifixion isn't fun, Mel, but this was too much. Or was he just out to prey on our fascination of violence to make some extra big bucks? In that case, he definitely succeeded.
