4. Tom Hooper
Bond films are always a huge undertaking, with audiences expecting a larger than life film that will blow them away with large action set pieces and good old-fashioned espionage. Who better to handle such a huge production than the man who brought Les Miserables to the big screen? Hooper favors the wide shots of landscapes and elegant camera movements, the direction Skyfall took a step towards and a far cry from the jarring steadicams of Quantum of Solace. Hooper is also adept at directing stories with a lot of character focus, as he did with The Kings Speech and the mini-series John Adams. One may argue that Tom Hooper would not be used to filming the action-heavy scenes expected from a Bond film, but look at Sam Mendes. Before Skyfall, his most action packed film was Road to Perdition. Furthermore, Hooper has shown that hes quite comfortable with an international cast, and for a Bond film, thats always a plus.
