5 Movies That Magically Brought Their Stars Back From The Dead

5. A CGI Enhanced Double Stood In For Brandon Lee After He Was Killed On The Set Of The Crow

Crow The death of an actor always gives a film an odd feeling, which is only amplified with The Crow because the gunshot wound Brandon Lee suffered that proved fatal occurred accidentally on set. The likes of Oliver Reed and Roy Scheider have had their final film appearances completed with CGI following their death mid production, but Lee was the first. Tragically killed when a dummy cartridge from a previous scene became lodged in a gun, creating a near bullet speed projectile when fired from the force of a blank, his death seemed to mark the end of the production, out of equal respect and trauma. Lee€™s mother and fiancée felt differently, endorsing the production€™s continuation, which became a sort of tribute to the young actor. Using just about every technique imaginable (stuntmen, CGI€™d body doubles and good old script rewrites), The Crow was finished and, while it is a good film in its own right, the stories surrounding the production gave it an almost mythical reputation. More than any other film on this list, extending the screen life of the actor naturally had a toll on the cast and crew, with certain cast members (including Michael Massee who fired the unfortunate shot) saying years after the fact it still remains at the forefront of their minds.
