2. Charlize Theron - Reindeer Games
There was a time when Theron could do no wrong. This time was before 2000's
Reindeer Games (also, and more sensibly, known as
Deception). Ben Affleck plays convict Rudy (shame they don't give Razzies for Most Tenuous Link to the Movie Title), Gary Sinise does his stock-in-trade villain and Theron is 'the girl on the outside' whom Rudy, adopting a different identity, tricks into falling in love with him. It's not much of a stretch for director John Frankenheimer, whose films are typically stuffed with suspense, action and political intrigue (such as
The Manchurian Candidate), and the success of his previous film,
Ronin, had perhaps made more of an impact than he anticipated."That was a bad, bad, bad movie," Theron later admitted, "But I got to work with John Frankenheimer. I wasn't lying to myself- that's why I did it." So, while Frankenheimer can boast a smile more sincere than the one pictured above, one wonders if it was all worth it for Theron. Then again, she was lucky enough to appear in a film with Ron Jeremy; he's listed as Frightened Inma-, I mean, Prisoner #1.
