7 Actors Who Deeply Regretted Their Roles

1. Sylvester Stallone - Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot

stop!1 Another film every bit as ridiculous as its title suggests, you wonder just how Stallone earnestly plugged his way through the press junkets and promo material for 1992's Stop! Or My Mom WillShoot. Fortunately, he can give all those fake smiles a rest now and tell us what he really thinks. ''I've made some truly awful movies,'' he declared back in 2010, ''but Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot is the worst. If you ever want someone to confess to murder, just make him or her sit through that film. They will confess to anything after 15 minutes.'' He also called it ''one of the worst films in the entire solar system, including alien productions we've never seen''. A 3.4 rating on IMDb and a 4% approval score on Rotten Tomatoes certainly seem to back him up. Stallone is clearly uncomfortable in his role (even the poster can't hide it) although there are any number of contributing factors; he's a 'fish out of water' left to flounder in a family comedy, he's one half of a very mismatched buddy cop duo and, worse of all, he has to keep a straight face while his 'mother' comes out with such lines as ''His ass was grass and I was the lawnmower''. And Estelle Getty, as the titular trigger-happy matriarch who saves the day, is perhaps the film's only saving grace. The kerrrazy coupling of Golden Girl meets Rambo unwittingly suffered something of a role-reversal; as its Getty who soldiers on while Stallone, as oblivious as the rest of us, looks ready for retirement.
