6. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
It's been said that
Hunchback is not for kids. And to an extent, I see that point. Sometimes, it's too dark, too thematic, and too scary. The music, while I find it to be Disney's greatest produced, is not jovial or even catchy for a child to be singing down the sidewalk after school. But the themes, messages and characters in
Hunchback are so worth noting that it is an absolute shame this movie is put-down and overlooked. I think Frollo is Disney's most realistic, adult, and terrifying villain
to this day. A man of power and divinity, driven to lunacy by perversions of his faith and upbringing and brilliantly cast as Tony Jay, Frollo is truly a well-crafted antagonist who meets his end by metaphorically falling into the fires of hell he so maliciously tried to avoid. I'll be showing my kids
The Hunchback of Notre Dame; it's one of those Disney features I consider real art and is an instant classic in my book. Shame on the public for shunning this fantastic film. http://youtu.be/tEOFQAJAcss
