8 Actors You Won't Recognise In 2018 Movies

2. Josh Brolin - Avengers: Infinity War

The upcoming Avengers: Infinity War is, in no uncertain terms, the big one for Marvel Studios. The entire Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building up to this epic crossover, set to incorporate pretty much every hero to have graced the screen in the series since Iron Man kicked things off a decade ago.

Obviously, a confrontation this huge requires a huge villain - and so it is that Avengers: Infinity War will see Josh Brolin take on the role of the colossal, all-powerful alien antagonist Thanos.

Since his very brief, wordless cameo in the end credits of 2012's The Avengers (made prior to Brolin's casting), Thanos has made two more appearances: a short scene with a few lines in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, and another quick mid-credits scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Of course, there's no mystery about why Brolin will be unrecognisable, given he's performing the role in a mo-cap suit and the Thanos we see on screen is 100% CGI. Still, there's at least a hint of Brolin's own features in that furrowed brow and square jaw.

Brolin will of course be seen in another 2018 Marvel role, under less extensive digital augmentation, as Cable in Deadpool 2.
