8 Captain America: Civil War Characters Guaranteed To Disappoint

7. Baron Zemo

Comic book fans have wanted to see Baron Zemo on the big screen since Captain America: The First Avenger was announced, and while the news that the extremely talented Daniel Brühl will be playing him in Civil War was met with open arms, this interpretation is already shaping up to be rather disappointing. For starters, the actor recently confirmed that he wont be wearing Zemo's iconic mask in the movie! This makes him the latest in the long line of comic book characters who have lost their costumes on their journey to the big screen, but Zemo's mask is more than just decoration. The World War II version of the villain had it stuck to his face during a battle with Steve Rogers and went insane, while the present day Zemo (his son) wore it to hide some horrible scars. In fairness, it could be that neither of those options would work in Captain America: Civil War, but ending the movie with Zemo being scarred for him to don the mask somewhere down the line would be far too similar to what happened with Crossbones between The Winter Soldier and now. As a result, and based on comments from Brühl, this big screen version of Zemo is clearly going to be only very loosely based on his comic book counterpart. While there's nothing to say he won't still be a great villain in this hero vs. hero movie, the signs are pointing to him not being the Zemo fans have been dreaming of seeing in one of these movies, so he's sure to disappoint as a result.
