8 Captain America: Civil War Characters Guaranteed To Disappoint

6. Iron Man

One of the most fascinating parts of the Civil War comic book was Tony Stark's unintended descent into villainy. While he had his supporters and was at times clearly conflicted about his actions, it didn't take long for him to emerge as the story's bad guy. Unfortunately, with Iron Man still Marvel's biggest draw, there's no way they'll have the guts to pull the trigger on the Armoured Avenger becoming the big bad of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's a shame too, as Tony taking on an antagonistic role in the upcoming Phase 3 releases as he enforces the Accords before redeeming himself in Infinity War would have worked really well. Instead, it won't be in the least bit surprising for Iron Man to not only emerge from Captain America: Civil War relatively unscathed, but also probably with the most screen time too. It's thought that the character will appear in Spider-Man's 2017 reboot, so you can understand why Marvel wants to keep him looking good, and thereby someone that can continue selling tickets for them. Still, the lack of the ruthless Tony who unleashed a Thor clone and the Thunderbolts on his former teammates is sure to be a major blow to this movie. As a result, not exploring the darker side of Iron Man is sure to frustrate fans of the Civil War comic.
