8 Child Actors Who We Wish Had Stayed Kids

6. Melissa Joan Hart

Melissa Joan Hart managed to achieve a pretty rare thing as a young performer- after an acting career that began at age 4, she was the star of two TV shows almost back-to-back, meaning that she was permanently in the public eye through her childhood and teenage years. Her big break was Clarissa Explains It All, Nickelodeon's first show to feature a female lead. She was extremely charming as the titular Clarissa Darling and her wardrobe from that show is surely being preserved somewhere as the perfect example of 90s fashion. She followed it up with the hugely popular Sabrina The Teenage Witch in which she managed to have chemistry with, among other cast members, an animatronic cat. In recent years, she's been most notable for tweeting her supporting for Mitt Romney in 2012 because, she said, she wanted a "business man" in power. She then claimed to feel victimised by the backlash which was a particularly bad look given that a year earlier she'd been sued for racial profiling and wrongful dismissal of an employee at her yogurt company (oh yes, she has a yogurt company now). Unpleasant though this news was, it did launch a thousand "Clarissa, Explain This!" style headlines so you can thank her for that if you're into that sort of thing.

Brydie is an Australian writer and performer living in London and she complains exactly the same amount about the weather as every other Australian living in London. Yes, that is her natural lip colour, no, she will not be taking any further questions at this time.
