8 Greatest Ever Film Moments Featuring Pancakes
8. Austin Powers: Goldmember
In one free expression of comic reduction, Mike Myers uses arguably his best comedic construction of the entire Austin Powers francise - and certainly the strangest - to reflect on the entire Dutch culture in a simple double-headed motif.
"A Shmoke and a pancake" became the buzzwords for the threequel, and though the comic notes of the character and his odd fascinations, both with smoking and eating, and with his own disgusting flaky skin, the scenes are also an unlikely visual history of pancakes, as Goldmember runs through a selection of the types of pancake available to the afficionado in the know.
Quite what impact the scenes had on the image of pancakes is up for debate, considering it's self-conscious oddness, but I suppose, as with all advertising, getting your product on everyone's lips is half the battle.
