8 Reasons 2016 Is The Best Time To Be A Movie Fan

Hold on to your butts.

It's easy to be cynical about the movie industry. All you have to do is look at the heaping piles of reheated garbage they've been shoveling our way for more than a decade now. It's all remakes and sequels, reboots and prequels made by people who have no business attaching themselves to the films. And film studios seem to take a perverse pleasure in doing this to us... But see that? That's how disenchanted doomsayers talk. And it's really easy to do. (Take a second and give it a shot. I'll wait.) Truth is, it can be a little harder to find the positives in an industry that's still content to pump out cubic tons of crap while raking in almost 12 billion dollars domestically just in 2015. Luckily for us skeptics, we actually don't have to look that hard to see signs of encouragement for the upcoming year. In fact, it's quite possible that 2016 will be one of the best years in recent memory to be a fan of movies. No, really. This year has every chance to be the year that moviegoers and cinephiles reflect upon come next January and say, "Wow, that was actually... awesome. No wait, that was actually really f*cking awesome!"
