On February 9th, 2015, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures made history when they teamed up to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Months before, the Sony Hack emails had revealed this was something which both parties were considering, but numerous reports pointed to those talks going nowhere and Peter Parker meeting The Avengers had gone back to being little more than a pipe dream for fans. That's what made the out of the blue announcement so incredibly exciting. Tom Holland has since been cast as the wall-crawler and Jon Watts hired to direct the 2017 reboot, with the character himself set to make his MCU debut in next year's Captain America: Civil War.
