8 Reasons Why Superman Should Be In Shazam!

The Man of Steel would be a perfect fit for DC's upcoming film...

In the aftermath of the sputter failure that was Justice League, much is uncertain about the future of the DCEU. The only films that remain surefire releases as of now are James Wan's already filmed Aquaman, the planned Wonder Woman sequel that DC wouldn't dare cancel for anything, and the upcoming adaptation of Shazam!

Shazam! is a strange character and one far less familiar to general audiences than the majority of DC's heavy hitters. Thus, just as they inserted Batman into Suicide Squad to pad the film's chances, they look to be following a similar path here.

Rumors have been circulating for some time now that the film may, in fact, feature an appearance from one of the company's biggest heroes; Superman. But with a new tweet from behind the scenes, this news is all but confirmed.

Film producer, Dany Garcia, is both producing the upcoming Shazam! film and currently serves as Henry Cavill's manager. Mere days ago, Garcia tweeted out an image of Cavill on a busy film set, with caption, "Who is this man? What are we saying? What are we planning? Oh, it’s goood… You’ll thank me later".

So with David F. Sanberg's film now deep in production, and Garcia's double role connecting the film and Superman himself, all signs are pointing to a likely Superman appearance. Which, for a great multitude of reasons, is absolutely wonderful.

8. A Real Clash For Shazam

Shazam is a super-powerful character with great wisdom, strength, stamina, power, courage, and speed. Also, he can fly.

Currently on the books to serve as the film's primary antagonist is Mark Strong as the character's arch-nemesis from the comics, Doctor Sivana. Sivana is a classic character, but one who is an intellectual match for Shazam rather than a physical one, generally speaking. Past incarnations have heavily painted the villain as the Lex Luthor to Shazam's own Superman-like powers, so it is unlikely that Strong will be able to go toe-to-toe with Shazam in any sort of physical battle.

Superman on the other hand, absolutely could. Shazam and the last son of Krypton share more than a passing resemblance when it comes to their power sets and a fight between the two of them could present a chance to fully show off the extent of Shazam's powers.

Shazam showing off his full powers on anyone else would almost certainly result in said character's death. But Superman can take the punches and even deal them back if need be.
