8 Reasons Why Superman Should Be In Shazam!

Judging from the leaked costume pictures, the casting of Zachary Levi as the lead, and the overall nature of the character as a whole, Shazam! looks to be a more light-hearted and fun affair than anything DC has attempted before.

Thus, having Superman involved could help to spearhead the direction of the entire franchise moving forward. Wonder Woman was by no means a comedy, but it certainly had its moments of levity and (for the most part) was able to keep from taking itself too seriously, as previous DC film's had. So when Wonder Woman was a massive hit for DC, it influenced the direction they wanted to take their universe in. Sadly, they couldn't fully commit to it.

Instead, they took Justice League (a film that had already finished filming) and put it into serious reshoots with a new director, in hopes of making the whole universe feel more like Wonder Woman did. Understandably, this failed.

But Shazam has clearly been conceived and executed from the beginning as a lighter film and having one of the DCEU's moodiest characters thus far getting in on some of the levity could accomplish a lot of the heavy-lifting for the universe moving forward.

Also, Levi and Cavill have been teasing each other on social media recently about the latter's mustache debacle, and honestly, who doesn't want to see some meta semblance of that captured in the film? Levity is key to Shazam! just as it is key to Superman as a character.
