6. Zebra Is The Weirdest Thing He's Ever Eaten

Much of Mikkelsen's critical acclaim and insane popularity in recent years has spawned from NBC's Hannibal, based on characters and elements appearing in the Thomas Harris' novels Red Dragon and Hannibal.

The series ran for four seasons and garnered a huge number of awards and accolades, with many specifically going to Mikkelsen. It's only natural, then, that playing a cannibalistic serial killer would result in questions about his own interesting culinary tastes. In 2014 Yahoo! asked Mikkelsen what the weirdest thing is that he's ever eaten in real life.

Mikkelsen responded by saying zebra, explaining that the animal was cooked on a barbecue as a sly joke “so the meat got striped”. He admitted that zebra is pretty tame, but of course, that's what a cannibalistic serial killer WOULD say...
