Few actors in recent memory have suffered as badly from the so-called 'Oscar Curse' than Halle Berry. Once one of the biggest female stars in Hollywood, a series of critical and commercial duds have severely diminished her standing in the industry over the last decade or so. Let's just blame Catwoman for that, shall we?
2012's Dark Tide and this year's Kings both hold the unwanted distinction of a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes while Perfect Strangers, Frankie & Alice, Movie 43, The Call and Kidnap are all rated between 4% and 44% on the aggregation site. She's even been shut out of her one guaranteed moneymaker after passing the mantle of Storm onto Alexandra Shipp as of X-Men: Apocalypse.
Nobody becomes a bad actor overnight, and while Berry has shown flashes of recapturing her best on several occasions the 51 year-old is in desperate need of a showcase role that makes the best of her undoubted talents sooner rather than later.
