When you think about it, how many great films were released over the summer? Avengers Assemble, Dark Shadows, Jeff Who Lives At Home, The Raid, Moonrise Kingdom, Prometheus, Killer Joe, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Dark Knight Rises, Ted, The Bourne Legacy, The Expendables 2, Total Recall and The Watch. It’s definitely been the year of the all-action super-hero that’s for sure.
Now that we’ve got that little nugget of reflection over and done with, let’s look forward to what the next three months have in store to see 2012 out with a bang. Although hopefully not that really big bang that the Mayan’s predicted. You’ve probably got your own list already stuck to your wall that you’ll cross off as you see them – but for those of you that haven’t then here’s some food for thought. There’s some for the Mr, some for the Mrs and some for the young ones amongst you – or those of you that are just a big kid at heart. There’s nothing wrong with still playing with Lego in your mid-twenties – ignore what your mum says.
9. Paranormal Activity 4
This franchise is by no means my favourite, and to a degree I wish they’d stopped a long time ago – but when it comes to Halloween it’s always nice to have something to fall back on. Since the Saw films ceased production a few years back, Paranormal Activity seems to have taken its helm and held on to it for dear life – and who could blame it. Low budget film plus a well-timed release date makes for a gold mine.
The film takes place five years after Paranormal Activity 2, which ended with Katie kidnapping Hunter. Now, Katie and Hunter have moved into a new house and they, alongside their neighbours, begin experiencing paranormal events taking place in their home.
If you liked the first three films then it sounds like you’re in luck. Expect jumps, screams and things that go bump in the night – or whenever it sees necessary.
Paranormal Activity 4 will be released on October 17th.

80% of the films on the list show me that you will graduate Film & Television Studies the same day that Armond White is offered a place in the Critic Hall of Fame.
To be fair it was a list to appeal to people of all ages, and was intended to be a light-hearted look at what films are still to come this year – regardless of how intricate your interest in film is.
no django!?
Django would’ve definitely been in, without a shadow of a doubt – if only it wasn’t being released in 2013 in the UK. Lucky lucky Americans.
I stopped reading after I saw twilight part 2. This list is a complete joke.
Then you missed the point of the list.
The title says “Must see”. I think the point of the list is pretty clear and Serious gorge is absolutely right. Of these films I’m only looking forward to Skyfall and The Hobbit.
The title was changed by WC. I intended for it to be upcoming films not must see films.
Too bad about Django being released in the UK in 2013. I assume that’s the case for Lincoln as well, since that movie looks to be fantastic.
The only film on this list I didn’t know about was Rise of the Guardians which I thought (based on title) was going to be some atrocious sequel to that Zack Snyder owl movie from a few years ago.
Delayed response, sorry. It’s terrible – but at least in the time that’s past we’re now much closer to it’s release date. Plus we’re now getting info. from USA which is better than nothing, right?
