9 Things To Expect From Lord And Miller's Star Wars Han Solo Movie

8. Sly Metatextuality

Properties with existing cultural baggage are exactly what the Han Solo movie's new directors have specialised in thus far. The Lego Movie paid tribute to the brand's history while also mocking the idea of a project based on a child's toy, while 21 Jump Street (and to a lesser extent 22 Jump Street) ridiculed the very TV show it was based on, making a joke of the concept and its inherent '80s-ness.

Depending on how much free reign Lord and Miller are given with the Han Solo movie, there could be a whole new perspective brought to the series, in the form of the metatextual references that the directors know and love.

It's unlikely Disney will allow them to break the fourth wall or make sly in-jokes as consistently as they have done in the past - there'll be no caustic send-up of franchise filmmaking as there has been in the Jump Street movies - but fans should at least expect the occasional nod and a wink.
