All The Fox Film Franchises Disney Now Owns
7. Die Hard
Yippee-kay-yay, mother... you know the rest. Yes, on top of acquiring the Home Alone series, Disney are now taking possession of that other greatest Christmas movie series ever: legendary action franchise Die Hard.
Okay, so only the first two are set at Christmas. And okay, most of us would like to pretend that the fourth and fifth one never happened. Even so, Die Hard remains a time-honoured classic close to the heart of anyone with a taste for foul-mouthed, testosterone-fuelled hi-jinks. None of which necessarily screams Disney.
Honestly, this is one instance when we'd sooner Disney left the property well alone, given what a total pig's ear Fox themselves have made of it this past decade. Alas, we can't fail to note that there has been talk of a sixth Die Hard movie of late, in the form of a 1970s-set prequel entitled Die Hard: Year One, following the NYPD's John McClane in his first days on the job.
Just in case anyone from Disney is reading: please do all in your power to stop this from happening.
