The Amazing Spider-Man 2: 24 Easter Eggs, References & In-Jokes You Need To See

Spider Eggs as far as the eye can see.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into UK cinemas next week in the first release slot around the world, and thanks to early preview events some fans have already seen it. Reviews so far have been somewhat mixed, with most acknowledging the success of the spectacle, but bemoaning the number of villains, while our own review focused on issues of restraint and over-excitement, but what cannot be denied is that the universe created by Sony and Marc Webb is stuffed with comic book references and hints of what might be to come. We already know that Sony are furiously working to keep ahold of the rights to the Spider-Man movies, and have plotted at least three and possibly more sequels, including the Venom and Sinister Six spin-offs, and though they are some way away, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 sets up a number of possible narrative directions for all of them. With this still being a Marvel property, and thanks to the vociferous dedication comic book movie fans tend to display in Easter Egg hunting, it pays to go into the film prepared. So with that in mind, we've put together the 24 most eye-catching and note-worthy Easter Eggs and reference points you need to look out for in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Please note: this article contains spoilers for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. If you don't want to know what happens in the Spidey's newest adventure, do abandon ship.
