As you might already know, Assassin’s Creed 3, upon its release a few weeks ago, split its audience roughly down the middle. Some think it’s clearly the best entry into the franchise so far while others insist that, while it may be an entertaining title in itself, it offers little to no real improvement on its predecessors.
I fall neatly into the former category. After spending the last few weeks killing, free-running, hunting, chasing and even sailing through the fictional retelling of the American Revolutionary War with glee, I can safely say that for me, AC III instantly pips the original Assassin’s Creed 2 as finest of the bunch.
I can certainly see both perspectives. After all, Ubisoft promised a gameplay revolution which, even as a fan, I’m not so sure that they delivered and coupled with a somewhat disappointing ending, it appears that statement may have been a little bit premature.
However, vaguely disappointing endings aside, there’s still a lot to love about Assassin’s Creed 3. A hell of a lot if you’re asking this writer (which, seeing as you’re here, I’m going to assume that you are).
So, let’s take a look at the improvements Ubisoft made to their tried and tested franchise, and how for me, they actually equate to the the best Assassin’s Creed title yet.

Could be a hundred reasons – naval battles, air kills with any weapon, the attire… Honestly loved this game and still don’t understand how it can be seen less upon by a few bugs.
Really this game exceeded expectations for me. To me AC2 was surpassed already by brotherhood as the best in the series. I loved the new animations and combat expessially. Also i thought they fixed the issues with the ezio games like stealth. For once i acturally had to run away occasionally. The ezio games were too easy. Plus the plot is great maybe the best in the series.
In terms of bugs i got stuck in a wall once. In red dead redemption i got teloported to mexico WTF.
The ending sucked but whats an ac game without a lame ending. Never liked desmond either so im glad hes finally gone.
I totally agree with all 10 points but there are something the other games had that this one is missing.
To start with AC2 had a far better story. As soon as the Boston Tea party everything got predictable.
AC3 did lack a lot in ‘assassinating’ which should really be the main aim. You kill about 6 main targets in the whole game and at least 1 was fictional.
Finally free roaming in AC3 cities I felt boring. The buildings in Boston and New York were far shorter and far more spread out than in previous games making running across rooftops normally the slower option.
Very good game but I feel they’ve sidelined a lot of the main features that made this franchise so good. Not the best but still very good.
