Avengers 4 Trailer Description Breakdown: Is This What We'll See In The First Teaser?

Breaking down the teaser leak AND Avengers: Infinity War's sequel title...

Thanos Tony Stark
Marvel Studios

With only a year between the releases of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, you could be forgiven for thinking there'd be more marketing for the sequel by now. Thanks in part to the releases of Ant-Man And The Wasp and Captain Marvel, that's not really been possible as Marvel have concentrated on not undermining those projects too much. Anything that focuses too heavily on Avengers 4 would absolutely do that.

For now, all we've had is a tease by the directors on Instagram and some artwork leaks: no title, no trailer date, no official synopsis. That much should be changing soon, you'd have to suspect.

It seems that there may be some developments on that front too. At least if you put any weight behind Reddit leaks, that is, because that's the source of the latest information that purports to shed some light on the film. A trailer description has appeared (which should absolutely be taken with a truckload of salt) that suggests the trailer might be a thing of beauty, if it's true.

So what can we expect from it? Here's the description, with a breakdown and responses to each major event in the trailer. Look out for spoilers here, obviously.

5. The Opening

Thanos Time Stone
Marvel Studios
"The trailer starts off showing the damaged Infinity Gauntlet in a field on the farm planet. As the camera focuses in on the Gauntlet, we hear Tony’s voice: “We were destined to lose.” Epic music score starts. The Quinjet is shown landing in a Wakandan wasteland as we hear Steve Rogers say: “We have come so far.” Tony and Nebula step off the jet as the remaining Avengers approach. Steve has a look of relief and says: “Tony”. Tony, seemingly defeated, shakes his head and gives a friendly smirk back to Cap. Marvel Studios Logo appears."

Response:

The emotion here sounds about right, given the way the Infinity War trailer started and that loaded voice-over from Nick Fury. There's a little confusion on the Quinjet aspect, since Tony and Nebula don't actually have access to the vehicle on Titan, but revealing how they get off that planet might well be too much of a spoiler for the trailer.

Having said that, seeing Cap and Tony reunited in the trailer is just as spoilerish, so maybe that's not a concern, if this is legit. And it does make for a good opening hook.
