Though the film isn't scoring the universal praise of the original movie, it's still earning acclaim for its breathless action and giddily entertaining tone, which really is pretty much what anyone needs from these outings. More important than how the Avengers bring down Ultron or anything self-contained within this one film is what reverberations it has for the MCU as a whole, and more specifically, the next major MCU movie, Captain America: Civil War. The Russo Brothers have already said that Civil War is essentially The Avengers 2.5, and given that they'll be adapting a much-beloved comic book arc, that's not too surprising. It's sure to be an entry almost as star-studded as a fully-fledged Avengers movie, and if they get it right, it could easily be the best movie in the MCU to date.
