Avengers: Endgame Trailer 2 Reactions: 8 Ups & 2 Downs

Ups

8. That Score

Aside for Guardians Of The Galaxy and now Captain Marvel, MCU movies have mostly seen criticism for their use of music. Some of that has been a little unfair, but it's fair to say that a lot of the music has lacked some personality, certainly. It's only really the Avengers fanfare that springs to mind in any sort of memorable way (and Spider-Man's theme but that's cheating).

So it's great to see how well the score is used in this trailer, combining familiar elements from Alan Silvestri's original score with new arrangements, including the genius minimalist opening that allows Tony Stark's voice-over to set the scene. And then when it starts to build and add bombast, through the devastation of the Decimation, it's enough to tear the hairs out of your neck, let alone make them stand on end.

And finally, that crescendo with the choral voices over the top of the Avengers fanfare after such an unsettling build is unbelievably effective.
