Avengers: Infinity War - 10 Fresh Predictions Based On The Trailers

They WILL know what it's like to lose.

In little more than a month, one of the most uniquely ambitious comic book movie spectacles yet will explode onto the big screen. Avengers: Infinity War is expected to be the ultimate superhero crossover and a defining moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's 10-year history.

Thanos and his Black Order are on their way to Earth in search of the Infinity Stones, and even an alliance comprising virtually every hero the franchise has to offer might not be enough to stop the Mad Titan in his quest for ultimate power.

As is the case with any Marvel film, the fans have been busy concocting theories, predicting the fate of every Avenger and imagining how Infinity War might end.

Pouring over the trailer footage, it doesn't look good for Earth's Mightiest Heroes, or indeed Earth itself. Thanos has already made progress in stocking up his Infinity Gauntlet and the threat level appears to be through the roof.

The tone of the movie has been well established and Marvel has revealed some epic scenes without giving too much away, but thanks to the two teasers, there's now more to go off when attempting to predict how Infinity War will play out.

10. Heavy Asgardian Casualties

The inhabitants of Asgard were last seen making their way to Earth by spacecraft following the destruction of the Norse realm at the hands of Surtur, but Thor: Ragnarok's post-credits stinger suggests they hit a massive snag along the way. That huge warship they encounter is none other than Thanos's Sanctuary II.

There are worrying signs that most of the Asgardians don't come away from this confrontation in good shape, and perhaps the most telling came in Infinity War's debut trailer. There's a shot of Loki walking through smouldering ruins, stepping over numerous corpses in Norse-style garb as he advances.

This suggests that Thanos attacks the refugee ship and leaves heavy Asgardian casualties in his wake. Adding fuel to this theory, Thor is picked up in deep space by the Guardians of the Galaxy and several of the characters on board his craft - including Heimdall and Valkyrie - are not listed among the Infinity War cast.

Although Marvel is unlikely to kill off every Asgardian who aren't named Thor or Loki - this seems too dark for the MCU, and Valkyrie should be given the chance to appear in future movies - expect the herd to be thinned considerably.
