Batman V Superman: Ranking The Performances From Worst To Best

Who emerged from the flaming wreckage with their dignity still in tact?

After a lengthy wait, tons of rumours and a lot of Ben Affleck hate, the reviews are finally in and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been deemed to be... well, a huge mess. Unfortunately for DC fans, Zack Snyder's sort-of sequel to 2013's Man of Steel has been declared as one of the most inconsistent superhero films ever made, with most critics citing it as a stupid, colossal disappointment; packed with fuzzy characters, a bizarrely incoherent plot and lots of forgettable fight scenes. The reception has been ugly. When it comes to the actual performances, Batman v Superman is a mixed bag; whilst some of the actors emerge from the wreckage relatively unscathed, others don't fare quite so well (looks like the fanboys were right about some of these actor choices, after all). Here are all the main performances in Batman v Superman, ranked worst to best...

11. Jesse Eisenberg - Lex Luthor

Anyone who defended Jesse Eisenberg's casting as Lex Luthor in the build-up to Batman v Superman's release is probably eating their words right now: he's absolutely terrible in the movie, in pretty much all the ways that the fanboys predicted he might be. Whilst some of us assumed Eisenberg would deliver something layered and complex, like his Oscar-nominated performance in The Social Network, he instead offers up a scatty, undisciplined and completely insufferable performance as Superman's infamous arch-nemesis. Whenever he's on screen, you're just counting down the minutes until the scene ends so you don't have to watch whatever it is Eisenberg is trying to do. Instead of lending any weight or complexity to Luthor, Eisenberg plays him as a bag or random ticks and mannerisms; there's no consistency, though, so the performance feels like the otherwise talented actor just made it all up on the spot. Worst. Luthor. Ever.
