Bond 24: 15 Locations That 007 Should Visit Next

11. Barcelona, Spain

Last Visited: Never Other films shot there: The Bourne Identity, The Machinist, Vicky Cristina Barcelona Highlight: The still-unfinished Sagrada Família, arguably the World's most stunning church Why? It's surprising that Bond has only ever visited Spain twice- in For Your Eyes Only and The World Is Not Enough- and never Barcelona. What's particularly distinct about this city is that it is part of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia, and is surrounded by the architecture of Gaudi. Bond can easily be seen strolling through La Rambla, and although he can't take in a Bullfight anymore, this is a city he could spend some time in- a sunsoaked metropolis useful both for meeting women and uncovering world-threatening schemes. It's bizarre that of all of Europe's major cities, Bond hasn't been here, if only briefly. Catalonia feels unique from the rest of Spain, so sending 007 here on his next mission would be a nice change. Likelihood (out of 5): 3

10. Tokyo, Japan

Last Visited: You Only Live Twice Other films shot there: Lost in Translation, The Wolverine, Inception Highlight: One could easily visit the vast skyscrapers, or the historic palaces and temples outside of the city limits, but the Tokyo Stock Exchange is an interesting place. Why? Japan is yet another country that has been rumoured for the next Bond film, and fans are keen for him to return here for the first time since 1967. But despite You Only Live Twice being almost solely centred in Japan, Tokyo itself wasn't exploited well enough. Since then, the city has developed beyond what anyone could have expected. It's hyper-advanced yet alien to the western eye, and if Roger Deakins is returning with Sam Mendes, then we should be even more hopeful, considering what they did with neon in Shanghai. It would certainly give Nicolas Winding Refn a run for his money. More Hollywood films are turning to Japan, so Bond should get in there and show them how it's done. If the next film goes closer to the film's outlandish routes- and You Only Live Twice is one of the most outlandish films of the series- then this is the place to do it. Likelihood (out of 5): 4
