Now that the dust is firmly setting on Captain America: Civil War, with a billion dollar haul looking increasingly likely and an incredibly positive critical reaction, it's time to start thinking about the future of the MCU. We already know that Black Panther is going to be awesome (not only because of Chadwick Boseman's performance, but because they're assembling a HELL of a cast), and there are lots of intriguing questions for Infinity War. But what of the biggest movie of summer 2017? What of Spider-Man?

He might not have been on screen for a lot of time all told, but Tom Holland's Spider-Man managed to pull away plaudits as the Greatest Spider-Man Of All Time. Take that in for a moment: a character with around ten minutes on screen managed to outdo two other franchise leads. It's a monumental achievement, and one that sets up Holland's stand-alone perfectly.

But what could we learn from his Civil War extended cameo that will be taken forward into Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017?

As was heavily foreshadowed when Marvel cut their deal with Sony, Peter has already been operating as Spider-Man before Tony Stark recruits him to join his team.

He was initially in a home-made suit, having developed his own webshooters and web (which particularly impressed Stark), and we know he'd been active in crime fighting, as that's precisely how Stark came across him. The whole CCTV footage conceit was a little silly, but it at least guarantees that we don't have to see another Spidey origin.

And the reappropriation of Uncle Ben's "with great power" speech also means it's unlikely we'll have to see that again. This is all good news, as a fully formed (or at least mostly formed) hero means less need for exposition, and more chance of an opening act set-piece.
