There's a new captain in town.

Fans can all pretty much agree that, with her long and colourful history in the comics and her role in the Avengers in recent years, Carol Danvers, the inconquerable Captain Marvel, deserves some time in the spotlight.

Add that to the even longer wait from fans of the MCU to see a solo female-led film come out of Disney's magic picture box (hey, it only took ten years), and you've got a film that can still get fans excited for Marvel's silver screen outings even after the game-changing Infinity War.

Those are just some of the reasons Captain Marvel is a film fans are anticipating as early as now, even without any real promotional material or even a trailer to tide them over, but there are many more reasons fans of Carol Danvers and the Marvel Universe at large have to see this film open to big crowds in 2019.

Let's just hope that the promising cast, story details and opportunity for something new in the MCU - not least in the decision to jump back in time - will all be delivered upon when the film comes out...

10. New Leadership

This may only be speculation at this point, but with many heads on the metaphorical chopping block for Infinity War, having a powerful, authoritative Captain who's been seeing cosmic action for a few decades gives fans hope that, in the event of the deaths of major Avengers, there'll still be a super-powerful protector to look up to after Infinity War.

Given that her film is set in the nineties and has put her in an apparent in-universe hiatus every since, fans expect her to come back and play a big part in Avengers 4, establishing her as an even bigger figure in the MCU than she's already gearing up to be.

A small comfort in the face of death, especially that of favourite characters, but fans may be trading one captain for another over the course of the next year, and in the very least, the cosmic power irradiated air force pilot will be a more than worthy leader to replace the one the MCU may lose. After falling in love with her in her solo film, fans will surely welcome her in a leadership role in Avengers 4. As soon as they get there, of course.
