Colin Farrell has secured himself a reputation as a bit of a bad boy. With the smouldering good looks, the twinkle of trouble in his eye and his lady-killing Irish drawl he’s inadvertently found himself in a bit of a Marmite situation – you either love him or you hate him.
However you feel about this native Dubliner, the fact remains that he’s here to stay. And it’s not all teen heart-throb drivel. Admittedly some of it might be, but much of his body of work is actually stellar stuff. He’s found himself in several huge roles since his tenure on the BBC Ireland-set soap Ballykissangel and has consistently displayed the type of range that’s required to operate as a Hollywood leading man.
In August, he’ll have the chance to show that range again. Stepping into Arnold Schwarzenneger’s comedically over-sized boots to play Total Recall’s Douglas Quade, all eyes are turning on him; both the eyes of his fans, and the eyes of those out there who’re praying to the god of movie reboots that he doesn’t tarnish a once great movie property.
Let’s take a look back over Colin Farrell’s ever lengthening career and weigh up his greatest performances against those he wishes we’d all forget.

For a writer you should know the a summer tent-pole flick isn’t usually great drama.Hollywood’s definition of success is the bottom line. That’s why I am quite surprised to see Alexander as a miss, let’s be honest in only didn’t do well in the states because we Americans can be quite prudish. Just look at the Chickfille flap. Go google Alexander and the old H-W standard $$$ it more than made up for it’s failure in urbane Europe. 8 million DVD’s sold and Warner’s releasing a European version of Alexander Re-visited 2007 all 3 1/2 hours long! You really got to love Stone, incidentally two historains wrote a book praising the film for it’s historically , and artistic perfection. I’d look the name up, but their views wouldn’t interest you. I just hope Colin Farrell’s contract gave him a cut off all those dvd’s How did you miss seeing Triage, which Entertainment Weekly said was his best work. Those indie films don’t get the distribution
No Horrible Bosses? He stole every scene he was in in that movie.
I didn’t much care for the film in general, but thought he was the best thing about Fright Night
Colin Farrell is one of those actors that really turns me off seeing a film, In Bruges was great and he was good in it. But other than that, complete meh to Colin.
