Colin Farrell: 5 Awesome Performances and 5 That Sucked

5 Mind Blowing Performances...

5. Minority Report (2002)

Adapted from the late Phillip K. Dick€™s novel of the same name, you€™d be forgiven for overlooking Farrell in Minority report as it really is a Tom Cruise vehicle. However, look past L. Ron Hubbard€™s favourite disciple and the next person you€™ll see in the supporting cast is the smarmy Fed in charge of bringing down the Pre-crime Division, Danny Witwer, played by the native Irelander. He was only a few years out of his run on the Irish soap Ballykissangel when he popped up in Minority Report, but it was instantly abundantly clear that Farrell was at home on the Hollywood stage. His Danny is cool, collected €“ a by the numbers kind of guy €“ but underneath all that, Farrell does a great job of keeping an insatiable hunger for success in his eyes. It€™s this hunger that eventually brings his character€™s downfall. For someone so new to the high budget cinema, Farrell was able to hold his own superbly next to some of the biggest names in the business. Danny Witwer isn€™t exactly a world away from Quade in Total Recall, and you€™ve got to imagine that his success here is one of the reasons he€™s gone on to bag the enviable role.
