Could Jimmy Fallon Host Oscars 2013?

Host of NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon is in talks to possibly host the 2013 Academy Awards.

Jimmy Fallon, host of NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, is in talks to possibly host the 2013 Academy Awards. Tom Sherak, recent head of the Motion Picture Academy, chose Fallon as the best candidate to host. Sherak also wanted Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and SNL producer Lorne Michaels to produce next year's broadcast. Right now Fallon and Michaels are in talks to do next year's show, but nothing is final. Fallon has proven he can be a good host, on both his late night show and the 2010 Emmys, and the telecast could use some positive energy like Fallon after last year's disappointing broadcast. Still, the decision could be problematic, as an NBC host going over to ABC wouldn't make either company very happy. ABC's own Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs during Fallon's show, but Kimmel couldn't host this year, as he is already hosting the Emmys. But ABC doesn't have the ability to stop any decision on hosting, so the most that would come from this would be a bunch of angry billionaires not talking to each other. A decision likely won't come soon, and the broadcast is still six months away, so all we can do now is twiddle our thumbs until a decision is made. Fallon would make a good host, and routinely has big stars on his show playing games and embarrassing themselves, but time will tell whether or not he gets the chance.
