Does The New Spider-Man: Far From Home Costume Confirm Fan Theory?

Tom Holland's rocking a new black costume, but what does it all mean?

Another day, another photo from the set of Spider-Man: Far From Home makes its way to the internet. The biggest so far was obviously the one that showed off Jake Gyllenhaal in his Mysterio costume, but before that, we also got a glimpse of Tom Holland in a new black outfit - albeit not the alien one fans may have perhaps anticipated.

Now, a new image of the costume has emerged. Curtesy of DanielRPK, it provides our most detailed look at Spidey's new look so far and could yet hide some clues regarding Far From Home's story. The sequel will likely see Peter Parker team up with Nick Fury and Maria Hill to face off against Mysterio and the Chameleon (although other villains may appear too). Fans had also suspected that the presence of Chameleon - a superspy in the comics - would mean that Far From Home would be borrowing elements from the espionage genre to supplement the 'High School' motif of Sony's new trilogy.

As you can see above, this is no traditional Spider-Man outfit. In fact, it looks to have twice as much in common with the Noir costume (set to feature in the coming Spider-Verse movie), than it does with Spidey's traditional costume. This new one sees Tom Holland outfitted in body armour, a balaclava of sorts, and some fingerless gloves. There also appears to be a symbol on the character's right breastplate, and while it could be a S.H.I.E.L.D. symbol, it's difficult to distinguish what the grey and black pattern actually is.

Either way, it's clear that Peter Parker is going to get up to some stealthy shenanigans in Far From Home, and though it remains to be seen who has made this new outfit, the inspiration from Noir is pretty obvious.
