Godzilla: 10 Most WTF Moments

6. Godzilla & Anguirus Talk (Godzilla Vs. Megalon)

Godzilla vs. Gigan is one of the cheapest films in the series, despite introducing one of Godzilla's most interesting adversaries. The plot once again involves aliens trying to take over Earth, and this time they are cockroaches from outer space (just go with it). Of course, you can't invade Earth in this series without using giant monsters to destroy everything, so they bring along the monsters Gigan and King Ghidorah as pawns to lay waste to civilization. Godzilla and Anguirus sense the threat from their home on Monster Island, but before jumping to save the world once again, the two actually have a conversation in English! Yes, this is yet another scene where monsters communicate with each other. However, while they at least tried to be consistent about it earlier by having the conversation translated, Godzilla vs. Gigan forgoes all that and just has them flat out speak human language. Apparently the Japanese version has them using speech bubbles, but either way, the monsters suddenly talking like people just comes out of nowhere. It's understandable that there would be a lot of artistic experimentation going, especially in a series this long, but there has to be some consistency. At no point in any film prior had any of the monsters talked like people, so when it happens in this film, your first and only thought is "WTF?!" Man, the Godzilla series can be pretty strange sometimes.
