Guardians Of The Galaxy 2: 12 New Details James Gunn Just Revealed

So who is this secret character then...?

Now that Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 has finished principal photography and the cast have been waved off to other jobs and different characters, we're into a whole new phase of anticipation. Wrapping means we'll get footage soon, and then of course teaser footage turns into a first trailer, then a second and then before you know it the film is out and we're talking about Groot and Hulk teaming up in Infinity War. That's the nature of hype, patience by damned.

Strangely, there's very little known at this stage about James Gunn's Guardians sequel. We have a vague character outline (though it's not clear who the bad-guys are yet), we know Kurt Russell is PROBABLY playing Peter Quill's father and we know there's at least one sequence set on Earth. Beyond that though? Your guess is as good as mine, but little things are being revealed.

Previously, Gunn took to Facebook to reveal some choice tid-bits about the sequel - including the revelation that Groot would indeed be a baby, and that he knows what's happening with the Guardians in Infinity War. This time out, he was more direct, thanks to the focussed line of questioning on Twitter.

Here's what the director revealed in his latest social media Q&A session...

12. Footage May Debut At Comic Con

As was semi-expected, Gunn revealed that there might be a teaser trailer (or at the very least some footage) at Comic Con as part of the Guardians Of The Galaxy panel:

Bear in mind the film has only just wrapped and doesn't see release for just under a year - the requirements of VFX alone will mean getting any polished footage in the wild is unlikely for some time. It's not that they're being deliberately secretive, it's just a matter of making sure it looks the best.

Having said that, it's inevitable that the footage shown at Comic Con will find its way out temporarily. That's just what happens on the ground there, no matter how poorly it presents the material.

As Gunn confirmed, it's going to be unfinished, unpolished and not for general public consumption if it does screen there...
