How Captain Marvel Will Change The MCU

A page that rocked the world.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has undergone a number of major changes since Iron Man kicked things off a decade ago.

The Avengers proved that the shared universe could come together, opening the door for more team-up adventures and more heroes. Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy both had a hand in opening the door to a wider universe beyond Earth. Civil War turned hero against hero. Infinity War, meanwhile, shattered everything.

Now the latest universe altering movie, and more pertinently its MCU-shaking hero, is on the way. As teased in the post-credits scene of Infinity War, Carol Danvers (played by Oscar-winner Brie Larson) is en route to the present day timeline, with the not so little matter of her own origin movie, Captain Marvel, to come first.

The former will arrive late April next year, less than two months after the latter, in a period that looks set to help define the MCU's present and future. Captain Marvel has been a long time coming (there was talk of including her in Infinity War, and even before that in Avengers: Age of Ultron), but it looks like it should be well worth the wait.
