Jaws: 9 Easters Eggs You Never Noticed

4. Spielberg's Dog Elmer Played A Role Too

Jaws went well over its initial budget and schedule during its torturous production, but Spielberg was smart enough to save costs where he could. This might be the reason why the Brody family's pet cocker spaniel is played by Spielberg’s own beloved pooch Elmer.

Elmer doesn’t get to do much but lay on a couch looking cute while Chief Brody is reading up on sharks, but at least his pet is luckier than poor old Pippet, who went swimming to retrieve a stick for his master and was never seen again.

Elmer shares a similar honour alongside the likes of Tom Hanks and Harrison Ford as a frequent returning actor for Spielberg, having appeared in most of his early work like The Sugarland Express, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind and 1941.
